History of Wright Brothers Day
On December 17, 1903, at Kill Devil Hills near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, Orville Wright flew the Wright Flyer for 12 seconds and about 120 feet. The brothers made four flights that day, the longest by Wilbur at 852 feet. Congress designated Wright Brothers Day in 1959.
